Michael Bay’s LA home potentially targeted for burglary after men impersonated city officials

Michael Bay’s LA home potentially scoped for burglary as police say men dressed as city officials may have intended to rob him… after he filmed a similar scene in Bad Boys II

  • Police say men dressed as city officials tried to read the home’s water meters
  • Bay’s employees noticed a NY license plate and odd uniforms
  • The men fled after they were denied access to the property

Michael Bay got lucky after men who may have been undercover thieves were turned away from his Los Angeles home on Monday.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the scary run-in is being investigated as a potential attempted robbery.

According to them, one of the 58-year-old filmmaker’s employees told police that two men buzzed in at the property’s outdoor intercom and claimed they were there to read the water meters.

However, the employee reportedly was concerned because of odd details with the men that didn’t seem to add up.

First, they represented themselves as city employees, but their white van had New York plates, when presumably it would have had local plates if it was a city-owned vehicle.

The employee also thought there was an odd lack of professionalism with the employees, whose uniforms didn’t seem to have been properly fitted for them.

One of the two men had his stomach partially exposed, which aroused suspicions that he may not have been who he said he was.

The employee also told police that the men appeared to be looking all around the area, as if they might have been casing it for a future robbery.

To play it safe, the employee called the police, and they refused entry to the two men, who immediately drove away.

It’s not currently known if Bay was home at the time the men tried to get access to his property.

Law enforcement sources said the incident was initially investigated as potential trespassing, but they have since raised concerns that it could have been something more sinister.

Now detectives are on the case an investigating it as a potential attempted robbery.

It’s unlikely that Bay finds the incident funny, but he may have at least noticed the similarities between the possible casing and a scene he directed in his 2003 action hit Bad Boys II.

That film — which earned $273 million against a $100 million budget — starred Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as two detectives in the Miami Police Department.

While investigating the flow of illegal drugs into Miami, the duo dress up in uniforms as exterminators and pretending to be addressing a rat infestation at the Miami home of a Cuban drug lord.

The sequence includes some off-color humor, as Lawrence freaks out after finding a pair of rats that are in the process of mating, while Smith discovers the pinky of a man who was brutally dismembered.
