Michael Cohen DENIES he is working with Tom Arnold to ‘bring Trump down’

Donald Trump’s embattled former personal attorney has denied he is working with actor Tom Arnold against the President, after Arnold gave a series of unusual interviews on cable news.

‘This was a chance, public encounter in the hotel lobby where he asked for a selfie,’ Cohen said on Twitter Friday night of a photo of himself and Arnold that the actor had shared gleefully earlier.

Arnold, who is working on an upcoming show for Vice called The Hunt For The Trump Tapes, had earlier in the evening said he was ‘spending the weekend’ with Cohen in a bizarre interview with CNN.

Cohen slapped that rumor down, writing: ‘Not spending the weekend together, did not discuss being on his show nor did we discuss @POTUS. #done #ridiculous’.

Arnold also conceded he’d been joking about teaming up with Cohen, saying in a statement: ‘I owe Michael Cohen an apology because I made light of something that’s very serious for him.’

In his appearance on CNN, Arnold appeared somewhat manic before lapsing into lengthy silences in an interview with Poppy Harlow during Erin Burnett OutFront.

‘Do you have any tapes of the President that the public is not already aware of?’ Harlow inquired.

‘Yes,’ Arnold replied. He continued: ‘If you see, for instance, one full day on the boardroom set of The Apprentice, one full day, and you see how incompetent he was.’

True Lies star Arnold, the ex-husband of Roseanne Barr, was once a contestant on Trump’s show, Celebrity Apprentice.

When Harlow asked if Arnold was referring to un-aired footage from the NBC reality series, Arnold replied: ‘We have a lot of things.’

‘I’m spending the weekend hanging out with Michael Cohen and there’s a lot going on,’ Arnold said directly into the camera, as if addressing Trump. ‘You’ve disrespected him and his family, and there’s a lot going on.’

When asked by Harlow if he knew whether Cohen was cooperating with federal investigators, Arnold sat in silence on live television for more than 20 awkward seconds without answering.

In a subsequent interview on MSNBC later Friday evening, the spectacle got more bizarre when Arnold told Lawrence O’Donnell that he had been talking with prosecutors.

Contradicting what Cohen had said earlier, Arnold insisted that telephone tapes the lawyer is known to have made of Trump would ‘100 percent’ be part of his show. He added that Cohen ‘is the star of an episode of our show…he’s totally cooperating with me.’

On Thursday night, Arnold ignited a firestorm of speculation by tweeting a photo of himself with Cohen, commenting simply ‘I love New York’.

Cohen was Trump’s longtime attorney and ‘fixer’, but has come under investigation over alleged tax, bank fraud, and campaign finance issues. His office was raided by prosecutors in April.

Actor Tom Arnold, who is producing a show about the hunt for ‘Trump tapes,’ visited with longtime Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen and tweeted a photo of their get-together.

Arnold said Cohen has ‘all the tapes,’ and claims Cohen feels mistreated by his longtime employer. Prosecutors raided Cohen’s home and office, and he is currently under criminal investigation over alleged tax, bank fraud, and campaign finance issues.

In an interview with NBC News on Friday morning, Arnold said of Cohen: ‘This dude has all the tapes — this dude has everything.’

Arnold’s new series premiers on Vice in the fall.

A promo piece references the infamous ‘Access Hollywood’ tapes, and depicts Arnold searching for the Holy Grail of anti-Trump video – the unsubstantiated ‘golden showers’ incident, which it depicts using a VCR cassette labeled the ‘Pee-Pee Tape.’

It also references rumored recordings of Trump using racial slurs on ‘The Celebrity Apprentice,’ and backstage at the Miss Universe pageant.

Arnold describes Cohen, who has run up a substantial legal tab contending with prosecutors from the Southern District of New York, as ‘tired.’

‘I say to Michael, ‘Guess what? We’re taking Trump down together, and he’s so tired he’s like, ‘OK,’ and his wife is like, ‘OK, f*** Trump,” Arnold said, laughing, according to the report.

Arnold also tweeted a picture of himself with former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci this week. And in May, he tweeted a picture of himself with Felix Sater, a former Trump advisor who had contacts with Russians during the 2016 election and promoted a Trump Tower Moscow.

Arnold acknowledged tweeting the photo on Cohen was ‘indiscreet’, then referenced Trump’s recent comments putting distance between himself and Cohen, who he said is no longer his lawyer.

‘Michael Cohen showed up and worked diligently above and beyond and sacrificed and Donald Trump is like I don’t even know who he is. You think Michael doesn’t notice that?’ Arnold said.

According to a promo for the show, Arnold will  ‘draw on his high-profile network of celebrity friends, entertainment executives, and crew members he’s met over more than 35 years in showbiz to dig for evidence on Trump’s most incriminating moments.’

‘And, being a comedian and all, he’ll have a little fun along the way. He’ll be backed up by a handful of experienced journalists, and—aside from trying to uncover the tapes themselves—he’ll look into the companies and tycoons who have allegedly fought to keep the damning recordings a secret,’ according to the announcement.

Viceland also is soliciting whistleblowers for the show, referencing ‘Apprentice’ outtakes and any other embarrassing material that can be verified.
