They were both born into famous families.  

And Michael Schumacher’s race car star son Mick met the late Steve Irwin’s teenage boy Robert during a visit to Australia Zoo on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast on Wednesday. 

Mick, 23, shared a series of photos and videos from his visit to the park ahead of the 2022 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

He gushed about being a fan of the Wildlife Warrior. 

‘Crikey! What an experience. Growing up watching Steve Irwin on his wild adventures, visiting @australiazoo is/was really amazing,’ Mick wrote. 

‘Seeing how his family carry on his legacy is truly inspiring, thank you so much Robert!!’

He added: ‘I encourage everyone to check out @wildlifewarriorsworldwide to get a deeper understanding of their important animal conservation work.’

Mick included a photo of himself and Robert standing side-by-side with their arms around each other as they smiled and flashed the camera a thumbs-up.

Another photo showed Robert crouching down on the grass in the crocodile enclosure as one of the zoo’s giant reptiles emerged from the water.

He also shared a video of Robert feeding one of the crocodiles while Mick watched on safely from behind a chain wire fence.

Mick is set to compete in the Australian leg of the Formula 1, which commences in Melbourne from April 8 until April 10. 

He’s the son of legendary racing driver Michael Schumacher, who was forced to retire from the sport after sustaining serious head injuries in a skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013. 

Meanwhile, Robert’s father Steve died in September 2006 at the age of 44 after being stabbed through the chest by a stingray barb while filming a documentary on the Great Barrier Reef.
