Michelle Collins shares heartbreaking tribute to her mother Mary one year after she passed

Michelle Collins shared a heartbreaking tribute to her late mother Mary on the one year anniversary of her passing. 

The EastEnders star, 59, took to Instagram to share a sweet throwback snap with her mum in a café.

In the emotional caption Michelle said: ‘We lost you a year ago today ! #missyou #loveyoumummy #motherlove #motherdaughter but so many others miss you too.

‘You devoted your life to us girls and I know it wasn’t easy ! But we had you for all those years , we were lucky . #wonderfulmemories’

The stars friends and family rushed to the comments section to give her their well wishes. 

With one person saying: ‘You only get one mummy ❤️ we are lucky when we get the best ones ❤️ mines been gone for 9 years.’

While another said: ‘Bless you I miss my Mum so much too it doesn’t get any easier x’

Mary passed away after battling terminal skin cancer for many years, she left behind her partner Sid, who she met in 1978.

At the time Michelle said she was ‘devastated’ by the loss and described her mother as the ‘kindest woman I knew’.

She confirmed the news last year by sharing the same heartwarming snap of herself alongside her mother. 

She wrote: ‘My beautiful Mummy passed away on Friday 30th April . We are all devastated.

‘She leaves behind her partner Sid , daughters Vicky and myself , 3 grandchildren Charlotte , Jack and Maia and her nephews and nieces whom she loved very much and her little dog #nano from @alldogsmatter.  

‘She was the strongest, kindest woman I knew. Fierce, protective, passionate, clever, funny, articulate. She gave Vicky and I our #drive and #hunger for life.’

Michelle said her mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer a couple of years ago as she thanked the Royal Free London NHS’ oncology department for caring for her.

She spoke to Kate Garraway and Adil Ray from Shrewsbury about her engagement to the 38-year-old.

Beaming with excitement, she said: ‘I never thought it would happen, but after 10 years I thought it was time.’

The pair began dating in late 2012, after they were set up by Michelle’s niece, who is said to have worked for Mike at a retail store.

Flashing her dazzling ring, she revealed: ‘I don’t really wear my ring a lot because I lose things. It’s antiquey and it’s great because it means a lot to Mike and his family. It’s kind of exciting.

The pair had been hiking up Temescal Canyon when Mike popped the question.

Tight lipped: Michelle kept her relationship quiet ‘to avoid the curse of celebrity magazines, where as soon as people reveal how blissfully in love they are it all falls apart!’

At the time when the pair first met, rumours began to swirl about their romance, Michelle was coy about confirming things, though she couldn’t help but gush about being in love.

She said: ‘I don’t want to tempt fate by talking about my personal life.

‘I want to avoid the curse of celebrity magazines, where as soon as people reveal how blissfully in love they are it all falls apart! All I’ll say is I’m enjoying life right now.’
