He told The People that he has spoken to his brother and that he’s ‘good’.

He added: ‘It happened to Joe. He came back from walking the dogs and his wife found him collapsed on the sofa. He had this valve problem. His father died with it. It was hereditary. ‘

The 71-year-old added that ‘when you get to a certain age’ doctors want to do all sorts of check ups.

‘You get to 70, you have got to be careful,’ he added.

Jagger is believed to recovering at New York-Presbyterian hospital, with nurses monitoring him closely for any signs of complications, Billboard reports.

The procedure he had did not require doctors to open his chest. Instead, they used a catheter to access a major artery and repair the damaged valve.

Jagger will need significant rest after completing the transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), sources say.

Jagger said he was ‘devastated’ for having to postpone the tour.
