A middle school teacher in New Mexico has been accused of sending inappropriate photos to a student via Snapchat.

Ronald Patrick Goranson, 23, was arrested on Friday in Las Cruces and charged with one felony count of criminal sexual communication with a child.

Police said Goranson, who teaches math to sixth graders at Mesa Middle School, sent the lewd photos to a female student on June 15 and 16.

At one point during his Snapchat conversation with the girl he allegedly wrote: ‘SMH, I’m so horny for you.’

A warrant was put out for Goranson’s arrest on August 6 after an adult turned the offending photos over to authorities.

Investigators met with the girl and she showed them her conversation with Goranson, which matched the photos the adult had reported, police said.

The 23-year-old is currently being held at the Doña Ana County Detention Center without bond, according to jail records.

A spokeswoman for Las Cruces Public Schools, Kelly Jameson, confirmed that Goranson was placed on administrative leave on August 5.

Jameson said that Goranson was hired by the district at the beginning of the 2019-20 school year.
