Millionaire luxury car dealer’s two-year-old son drowns

A two-year-old boy has ‘drowned’ in a swimming pool while on a family holiday with his parents in the Maldives.

Max Musgrave, from Dublin, died during the trip with his father Trevor and mother Lara, on Monday.

A friend of the family said they were ‘inconsolable’ at the tragic loss, with relatives now flying out to support Max’s parents. 

They told the Sun: ‘The family are just heartbroken. 

‘It was an accident and he drowned in the pool. 

‘They were on holiday at the time. The family are devastated, totally devastated.’

Another source said: ‘Some family members are booking flights to fly out. The family are in complete shock. 

‘They are trying to get their heads around it. It is so tragic.’

The Department of Foreign Affairs said it was ready to provide consular assistance to the Musgrave family.

The Musgraves are well known in social circles in the Irish capital.

Mr Musgrave, from the upmarket suburb of Castleknock, owns luxury dealership, Onyx,  selling Range Rover, Bentley, Ferrari, Porsche, Rolls Royce and Mercedes.

The couple met at the All Irish Polo Club in 2008 and later moved in together on the grounds of the K Club, a five-star hotel in the picturesque County Kildare countryside. 

Mr Musgrave, who owns three Ferrari sportscars, proposed to his fashionista wife on the estate’s spa, before the pair got married in a star-studded ceremony in August 2011.

Their guest list included Irish celebrity chef Conrad Gallagher and socialites Annette Rocca, Louise Loughman and Bernie Cafolla.
