Milo Yiannopoulous brands 12k Syrian refugees as rapists

Milo Yiannopoulos entered a heated debate with radio journalist Neil Mitchell on Monday after the self-proclaimed ‘free speech activist’ labelled thousands of Syrian refugees accepted to Australia as ‘rapists’.

The 32-year-old former Breitbart journalist made the accusation while speaking with Mitchell on 3AW, but took back his comments when the radio host informed him most of the refugees are, in fact, Christians.

Mr Yiannopoulos, who is infamous for criticising feminism, Islam and political correctness, was discussing his belief that ‘Islam is incompatible with the western world’ when Mitchell asked the British media personality what he thought of Australia accepting 12,000 Syrian refuges.

‘Are you suggesting we should be concerned by that?’ he queried.

‘I’m suggesting you should send them back immediately because the only consequence of that is going to be a drain on public services and your daughters raped,’ Mr Yiannopoulos responded.

Mr Mitchell quickly retorted by asking Mr Yiannopoulos if it made a difference that most of the refugees selected are Christian.

‘Well, of course that makes a difference,’ Mr Yiannopoulos said before Mr Mitchell cut him off.

‘Well you’ve just called the rapists – this is the problem, you’ve got half the fact – you’ve called them rapists and dole bludgers and now they’re Christians so they’re alright,’ Mr Mitchell said.

The conversation, which had appeared to be a healthy debate, then took an awkward turn as Mr Yiannopoulos accused Mr Mitchell of asking him ‘gotcha’ questions in an attempt to make him look stupid.

The pair continued to speak over each other and Mr Yiannopoulos offered to revise his answer now that he is ‘in receipt of new information’.

Mr Mitchell argued that his did not ask the 32-year-old a ‘gotcha’ question but after some uncomfortable back-and-forth comments the radio host ended the interview.
