The TV cameras continued to find the Belgian model who looked more nervous than Raonic himself as the ball was hit back and forth.

‘Goodness me, that is Milos Raonic’s girlfriend,’ Channel 9 presenter Tony Jones said as she continued to gaze intently at the match.

‘It is a nervous, nervous time not only for the player, but all of those as part of their team.’

Ms Ringoir then jumped to her feet and yelled in excitement when Raonic won the third set.

The lengthy match began under open skies but due to rain, finished with the roof closed four hours later.

‘That is hard to describe – it feels like four hours passed by in 15 minutes,’ said Raonic.

‘In the heat of the battle, the adrenaline takes over. You try to do everything you can each and every point.

‘I was very fortunate to stay alive in that fourth set. I am thankful that it was indoors. I do a little bit better indoors than I do outdoors … thank you for raining.’

Stan Wawrinka, who won the Australian Open in 2014, put up a tough fight against the Canadian star but was pushed him out of the competition by Raonic.
