Minnesota high school blasted after student photos of her upsetting meal goes viral

A teenage student put her Minnesota High School on blast in a viral Facebook post showing her abysmal school lunch, outraging fellow students and parents alike.

Maryn Holler, a student at Apollo High School in St. Cloud, shared photos of her disheartening meal in a September 13 post that has been shared more than a 1000 times and has received more than a 1000 reacts.

The meal consists of what appears to be a hot dog bun covered in cheese with a pile of carrots and a small container of apple sauce.

She said that the meal cost $3

‘There are kids at this school who this is ALL THEY GET TO EAT, and we were given a hotdog bun with cheese. It’s honestly sad to know that we go to school and pay around 3 dollars for something that cost .50 cents to make. @isd742.’

The post quickly became inundated with comments from alums and fellow students sharing their own terrible meals from the school.

One user shared a video of the meal she had at the school, which she claimed prompted her to transfer.

The video consisted of her using banging a hard pretzel on her lunch tray

She also used her spork to sift through a questionable looking soup/porridge.

Another student from the school shared a photo of her meal from lunch, adding that they substituted lettuce for carrots.

‘WOW! This is UNACCEPTABLE! Instead of carrots, other option was plain lettuce,’ she exclaimed.

But the school clearly has a history of questionable lunch practices, as seen in one comment featuring a 2013 post showing a similar disappointing meal.

Facebook users from other towns started sharing their own school lunches, with some showing pride in their meals while others expressed their dissatisfaction.

‘Pasco County Florida School District is no better, when it comes to food,’ shared parent Sasha Lash, along with a photo of the lunch she was bashing.

‘Thankfully, 99% of the time I pack healthy lunches for my boys. The one day I tell them to get school lunch, my middle schooler sends me this picture and a text saying “this was my lunch, they took my Orange Juice and said I can’t have two fruits”. $3.00 for a hotdog and grapes.’

The post prompted a response from the St. Cloud Area School District 742, who shared that the school was trying a new menu item.

‘Oops! We goofed,’ they said in the September 13 post. ‘Tried a new menu item today at lunch and we hear it was not a winner! Going forward, we will gather input from our students on new menu options. Thanks for the feedback!’

They later clarified that ‘this was one lunch item, a new choice.’
