Miranda Kerr revealed the devastating impact she suffered at the age of 15 when her boyfriend Christopher Middlebrook suddenly died in a car accident.

The Australian model, 41, admitted on the Beautiful Inside by Beauticate podcast she was left heartbroken after the loss and needed ‘lots of therapy’ to recover.

The mother-of-four, who shares three of her four sons with husband Evan Spiegel, also told host Sigourney Cantelo the hardship made her appreciate life much more.

‘I think the thing that got me through it was obviously the love and support that I had from my family,’ she said.

‘When I realised I had to go inward and be really grateful for the moments I had with him while we were together and then realising the fragility of life and how any of us can be taken at any moment.

‘That’s really what I felt led me to that spot of finding the comfort within and the gratitude of the time we did have together.’

Miranda went on to say losing Christopher ‘got me really spiritually seeking’ and taught her ‘being in the moment is the most powerful thing’.

However, she confessed moving on from his death was no easy task.

When asked if she ever sought professional help to cope, Miranda said: ‘Lots of therapy.’

Miranda has long been open about the loss she suffered as a teenager, revealing to the Not Alone Podcast she was left in shock after the tragedy.

She admitted at the time her life could have turned out very different if the tragic accident didn’t happen.

‘My boyfriend passed away when I was a teenager. If that hadn’t happened I would have been happily married and been a country bumpkin like I was,’ she said.

‘The fact he died so suddenly was such a shock to my system because he died in a car accident. It was a lesson to not take anything for granted in my life.’

Christopher left such a mark on Miranda’s life, she even named her first child after him.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph after his birth, Miranda said she wrote a letter to Christopher following his death and promised to name her first child after him.

‘After he died, I wrote him a letter that said I hoped to name my first child after him in some way,’ she said.

‘I told Orlando and he was the one who said he’d be happy to do that.’
