Missing girl, 5, found alive under abandoned house

A missing five-year-old girl has been found alive under an abandoned trailer in Texas where police say she was sexually assaulted by a 14-year-old boy.

The child was found at 2pm on Tuesday, several hours after she was reported missing, by police who were looking for her in Valley View, near Gainesville, in Texas.

Police say she was removed from the trailer where she lived with the 14-year-old boy, her eight-year-old brother and three other children, overnight on Monday.

He allegedly took her to the abandoned property which was just 0.3miles away, to sexually assault her then abandoned her afterwards. 

A five-year-old girl was found under this abandoned trailer on Tuesday hours after she had been reported missing. Police say she was taken there by a 14-year-old boy who lived with 0.3 of a mile away to be sexually assaulted 

The pair are not related but lived in the home together with other children.  

After she was found, police arrested the boy and placed him in a juvenile detention center. 

Neither his identity nor that of the missing girl’s has been released. 

All of the other children who were living in the home have since been removed. 

The girl was beneath the porch of the abandoned trailer. Its yard was littered with debris and junk. 

Cooke County Sheriff’s Office would not answer questions on the case on Thursday. 

In a statement, Sheriff Terry Gilbert said: ‘During the investigation, it was determined another juvenile who resided at the same residence as the missing juvenile, removed the missing juvenile from the residence during the night and sexually assaulted her in an abandoned residence nearby. 

‘Afterwards, the missing juvenile was left underneath another abandoned residence until she was located.  

The girl was found under the house which is accessible through this opening. She had been there overnight 

The abandoned house has a yard full of junk including abandoned mattresses and grills 

‘The suspect juvenile was detained by the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Denison, awaiting arraignment.’   

He would not disclose how serious the girl’s injuries were, nor would he say how long they believed she had been left alone.   

Neighbors were horrified by her disappearance and were grateful when she was found alive. 

‘It’s sickening, very sickening. Makes me not want to think about it.  It’s unbelievable. We’ve been here 18 years. 

‘Nothing like this has ever happened around here and it just shocks us,’ Jackie Brown, who lives near the trailer where the girl lived, told CBS local network DFW. 

Neighbor Susan Treadeau told KXII the case was ‘pure sadness’.
