Missing schoolgirls are ‘safe and in a LOT of trouble’, says relieved mother after friends went AWOL for two days following taxi ride to Morrisons

Two 14-year-old girls who went missing for more than 48 hours were found today as one of their mothers warned they are ‘in a lot of trouble’.

Leah Flower and Chloe Horsfall were dropped off near a school in Dover, Kent, at 8.30am on Monday and taken to a Morrisons store in the town by local taxi firm A1.

Leah’s worried mother, Lucy Wattenbach, 34, said the schoolgirls were last seen later that day at around 9pm, heading down Victoria Crescent in the town.

But Ms Wattenbach, of Deal, then revealed to her friends on Facebook today that they had been found, saying: ‘They are both safe now and in a lot of trouble.’

She also thanked her friends for sharing appeals and information on social media. Kent Police confirmed to MailOnline that the girls had been ‘located this morning’.

Ms Wattenbach said on Facebook: ‘Thank you so much to everyone that has been helping with the search for Leah and Chloe. They have now been found.

‘They are both safe now and in a lot of trouble. We are all so grateful for everyone’s shares on here messages and information we were given.

‘We all really appreciate everything everyone has done. Please share so everyone knows they are home and safe.’

Ms Wattenbach had said yesterday: ‘My daughter and her friend have been missing since 8.30am (on Monday). Both dropped off at Morrisons in Dover by A1 taxi.

‘Please if anyone has seen them or has any news of where they could be staying or where they are or who they are with we all would really appreciate your help any information, please contact myself or Chloe’s parents or the police.’

Ms Wattenbach had later said she thought the pair could be in Folkestone and urged anyone who saw anything to contact police. She added: ‘We are all so worried.’

A Kent Police spokesman said: ‘Two teenage girls were reported missing from the Dover area at 12.37pm on December 2. They have been located this morning.’
