MKR’s Sonya and Hadil involved in an off-camera altercation

Channel Seven have confirmed a news.com.au report that My Kitchen Rules contestants Sonya Mefaddi and Hadil Faiza were involved in an off-camera altercation in a hotel room that contributed to their booting from the show.

An ‘MKR insider’ told the website on Saturday that a physical exchange broke out between the pair and fellow teams while they were staying at a hotel in Tasmania.

The incident allegedly took place just two days BEFORE Sonia and Hadil were removed from a fiery dinner party for hurling profanities – a shock event which was aired during last Wednesday’s episode of the show.

Off-camera altercation: On Saturday, news.com.au quoted a My Kitchen Rules insider claiming Sonya and Hadil were involved in an off-camera incident in a Tasmanian hotel, which was confirmed by Channel Seven

The insider told news.com.au that the physical incident occurred when Sonia and Hadil were walking past a hotel room and heard several other teams talking inside.

Upset by what they overheard, the fiery pair knocked on the door which was answered by brothers Josh and Nic.

The insider stated: ‘It started as voices and people arguing and pretty quickly got to push and shove. It blew up in the corridor. Other people on the floor poked their heads out of their doors. It calmed down pretty quickly and everyone returned to their rooms, but it was not a good scene.’

Channel Seven confirmed an altercation had taken placing, saying in a statement: ‘While on location, during a break in filming, several members of this year’s teams became involved in an argument which escalated into a physical exchange’.

‘Over the following days, producers put in considerable effort to rebuild the teams and their relationships with each other.’

Seven then stated that this was not successful, and the team was ‘dismissed’ from the show.

On Wednesday’s shock episode of the show, dubbed as ‘the most explosive in history’, Sonya and Hadil were ordered out of a dinner party after they verbally clashed with  co-stars.

However, the pair have hit back at Channel Seven with a string of explosive claims, accusing the network of ‘bullying’, bad editing and using them ‘for ratings’.

The best friends are also questioning the integrity of the cooking competition and alluded to a conspiracy to make them ‘look bad’ because they were ‘the best cooks’ on the show.

‘We’ve been extremely disappointed with our experience and treatment by the show,’ they wrote on their joint Instagram account.

‘Imagine how we feel watching the episodes back when the episodes have been extremely tampered with (the amount of editing is insane).’

’12 to 14 hours of footage… majority of airtime is on us because they want to build us up for ratings which equal $$$$ to the network.’

They continued: ‘I assure you people have acted a lot worse than us on the table, that hasn’t been aired.

‘We will both be happy when we’re off air because MKR have bullied us enough, constantly targeting us because we were unfairly dismissed and the only way they could justify this was to make us look so bad!’

The televised incident saw Sonya and Hadil hurl a string of profanity-laced insults and threats at rivals Jess and Emma.

The two women made repeated remarks about Jess and Emma’s appearance, before screaming at the other contestants and calling them ‘disrespectful a**holes.’

Manu then stepped in, saying: ‘Enough! Things have got too out of hand, this is a cooking competition, and this behaviour is unacceptable. Sonya and Hadil, you are excused from the table!’
