Model Jett Kenny reveals his struggle to carve out own identity in the shade of his famous parents

He grew up with an Olympic athlete mother Lisa Curry and a champion triathlete father, Grant Kenny.  

And now, model and TV personality Jett Kenny, 23, has revealed his struggle at trying to carve out his own identity that is separate from his famous parents.

Speaking to Sydney Confidential on Monday, Jett was full of admiration for his parents but admitted they are the ‘famous ones’ while he was happy to simply be himself.

‘They’ll always be the famous ones because they’ve done such amazing things, and I’ll just be me,’ the Adonis-like blond confessed. 

He added: ‘I always just feel like their son.’ 

Jett was recently signed by luxury department store David Jones, working alongside the likes of  models Jessica Gomes and Karolina Kurkova. 

And in the new interview, Jett did concede this career was starting to take off.

‘Mum said she was at the shops and someone asked if she was Jett Kenny’s mother,’ he said, confessing he found it funny.  

Lisa’s rise to fame happened early, and she became a prodigious swimmer by age 12, being going to become a three-time Commonwealth Games medallist.

Lisa also competed in the Moscow Olympics in 1980, Los Angeles in 1984, and Barcelona in 1992.

Meanwhile, Grant Kenny rose to fame as an Ironman, winning both the Australian Junior and Open Iron Man Championship in the same day in 1980.   

Grant went on to win several Ironman championships, before he married Lisa in 1986, with the couple then having three children Jaimi-Lee, Morgan and Jett. 

The couple divorced after 25 years of marriage, splitting in 2009.
