French designer Victor Weinsanto created a stir at Paris Fashion Week with some very risqué designs on show.

The annual fashion event, which got underway yesterday, featured a catwalk show from the 28-year-old designer’s new collection,

Weinsanto opened the womenswear Spring/Summer 2023 with his show, which featured holograms of K-Pop superstars Lightsum. 

The designer, who is a protégé of iconic fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier, launched his label in 2020.  

Weinsanto’s adventurous designs were inspired by fellow young designers as a ‘declaration of love’ to his generation.

Freshly decked out in bright orange hair, the designer said people were looking for ‘creativity, freedom, madness and humour’ in their outfits at the moment.

The designer’s clothes were bold and flamboyant with some featuring a huge feather hat, gigantic tulle and a large fuchsia pink and red heart and floral design.

However, other outfits in the collection were risqué, as the former ballet dancer-turned fashion designer, mixed almost transparent jumpsuits, slit mini-dresses worn with imposing capes and even bodysuits passed through over corsets.

The most outrageous of the catwalk show was an outfit that comprised of several reams of plaited hair over sheer fabric, which were tied around the model’s body.

Like many of his generation, there is a focus on sustainability – with almost all his designs made from surplus stock from other brands – and inclusivity.

More than 100 brands feature in the official calendar for Paris Fashion Week. 

And almost all are back to live runway shows following the shift online during the Covid-19 pandemic, including Dior, Chanel, Balenciaga, Stella McCartney and Issey Miyake. 

Yet all eyes are on Victoria Beckham, who makes her first appearance at Paris Fashion Week on Wednesday after previously showing in New York and London. 

She will present her new luxury collection during the spring 2023 women’s ready-to-wear shows, which run between September 26 and October 4.
