Models Victoria Lee and Jessica Gomes storm the runway at the rehearsal for David Jones’ Collections

Victoria’s Secret supermodel Karolina Kurkova stole the show at the rehearsal for David Jones’ Spring/Summer Collections launch in Sydney on Wednesday afternoon.

The longtime underwear model was joined by ambassadors Victoria Lee and Jessica Gomes as the women turned heads in a range of new season swimwear.

The elegant parade of fashion for the upcoming season took place at Sydney’s iconic Fox Studios, with models almost floating down the ‘Spring harvest’-themed runway in sky-high heels and floral frocks.

Epitomising the ‘new beginning’ approach for the day the 180-year-old retailer showcased tailored gowns, preppy coats, oversized blazers, neutral tones and colour block – all with a touch of feminine sculpting to make them feel wearable for any occasion.

It’s a step away from the trench coats and woolly jumpers they previewed in their previous season’s collection; therein lies the idea of the new beginnings.

And things certainly started off with a bang when the store debuted their swimwear collections.

Victoria wore a stunning white one piece with a key-hole opening at the front and a sheer white cover up that scaled the floor, whereas Jessica donned a very similar look with a grey two-piece and black gladiator heels.

International supermodel Karolina Kurkova shone in a very low cut black one piece and bright red lip, looking every bit the Victoria’s Secret vixen she was in the early 2000s.

Other brands opted for a bustier-style bikini top with floral accents and neutral navy tones – but each had a neon influence to them.

Zimmermann put their best tribal foot forward with a $395 ruffle one piece that matched a similarly style silk mini dress named Tali for $995.

As the ode to beachside glamour shifted, models began to cover up again in this season’s prediction of the hottest fashion trends.

Some of the previewed wears are reminiscent of The Handmaid’s Tale with cinched waists and ankle-skimming hemlines.

Others provoke the complete opposite feel with barely-there bras underneath sheer charcoal dresses paired with statement gold jewellery and slinky slip dresses.

Beauty on the day was a combination of clear and barely bronzed skin with bold, brushed brows and coral lip shades, something that made the 80s-style clothing choices pop.

Lisa Curry-Kenny’s son Jett, who is a promising triathlete, also sauntered down the runway in a trendy black suit at the rehearsal, his long hair held secure in a man bun.

Labels like Shona Joy, By Johnny, Camilla and Marc, Bianca Spender, Tigerlily, Bec and Bridge, Thurley, Zimmermann and Witchery are all expected to take part in the eponymous fashion show at 8pm this evening.
