The proposal comes as Stuart is due to jet off to Sri Lanka to play for England, which Mollie admitted made her feel ‘anxious and uncertain’.

She had only just expressed this a few hours prior to Stuart popping the question, taking to Instagram to share her goals for the coming month.

‘@stuartbroad also goes away tomorrow with cricket which is always a mix of feeling excited for him but knowing I’m going to miss him so much.’

Mollie and Stuart were first linked in March 2018, but briefly split five months later in August 2018.

The Radio 1 presenter praised her ‘modest’ boyfriend last month when he was nominated for the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year prize.

Paying tribute to the talented sportsman in a video screened at the socially-distanced ceremony, Mollie admitted she ‘had no idea how good he was at his job’.

She said: ‘He was just so sweet and modest. I’d ask him about what he does and not one part of him was bragging – so much so that I actually had no idea how good he was at his job.’

Famous pals took to the comments to congratulate the couple.

Mollie has had a number of high profile romances over the years, since she shot to fame with The Saturdays in 2008.

Most notably was her relationship with model David Gandy. She also dated Andy Brown, of the band Lawson, as well as record producer Jordan Omley.

She was linked to her Strictly Come Dancing partner AJ Pritchard when she took part on the series in 2017. However, the TV pair insisted at the time there was no romance between them and they were just friends.

Mollie told Cosmoplitan in 2014 that she always remains friends with her exes.

‘When they’re with somebody new and you’re single that really hurts, but it’s easier when you move on,’ she said. ‘Recently there were some pictures of me and David [Gandy] sat next to one another at the same tennis match and the pictures could not have been more unfortunate.

‘It looked like we hated each other, but we do actually get on. Just as I do with Andy. I’ve stayed friends with all my ex-boyfriends, which is nice because we often bump into each other at events.’

Stuart dated lingerie model Bealey Mitchell from 2014-2017. Prior to this he dated actress Kacey Clarke and model Laura Coleman.
