Ilia Topuria thought he had secured a nice $50,000 with his brutal KO of Jai Herbert, but Molly McCann had other ideas at UFC London.

The popular Liverpudlian descended on London with a spring in her step after winning in Las Vegas late last year, when the threat of the UFC axe loomed after a run of defeats.

And Meatball vowed to ensure she didn’t let her second chance go to waste, facing a stern test in Luana Carolina at the O2 Arena.

Molly McCann sealed a sensational victory over Luana Carolina at UFC London on Saturday

Fighting just before her team-mate Paddy Pimblett, McCann looked to set the tone with a ferocious opening round, with her volume and output causing the Brazilian all sorts of problems.

Carolina rallied in the second and found her rhythm, with McCann evading her rival’s jiu jitsu on the floor.

Despite heading into the third and final round ahead on the scorecards, Meatball was desperate not to hear the bell and sealed victory with a certain KO of the year contender.

Grabbing hold of her opponent’s left arm, McCann used her momentum to land a vicious spinning elbow to knock the Brazilian out cold and onset bedlam at the O2 Arena.

Climbing over the cage, McCann embraced UFC president Dana White before finding a UFC belt and taking it into the Octagon, holding it aloft in front of a sold out crowd.

‘She’s a long b*****d so I thought how do I get her,’ McCann said to Michael Bisping. ‘She went to sleep! My resting heart rate is 38 I can go all day. I’m so happy we have put it all together.

‘I got made the main card for a reason. Thank you very much for having the faith in me. Who is getting me a bevvie then?’
