Molong crash: Police reportedly investigating if mother was run off road in fatal crash

Police are investigating whether a mother-of-three killed in a horror car crash may have been run off the road by her ex-husband.

The mother, 36, tragically died when her green sedan collided with a ute on Speedy Street in Molong, NSW central west at about 3.40pm on Friday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but were unable to revive her.

Two of her daughters, aged eight and 13, were in the backseat of the car and were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The ute driver, a 35-year-old man, was pulled from the wreckage of his vehicle by Fire and Rescue NSW personnel and airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.

He is understood to be the victim’s former husband.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of the crash but are understood to be investigating into whether the mother may have been run off the road, Nine News reports.

Witnesses claim the pair were seen at a local school and drove away in separate cars shortly before the crash.

No charges have been laid.

Police remained at the crash scene on Saturday before the wreckages of both cars were later towed away. 

The ute driver is now reported to be in a stable condition in hospital.

The tragic crash has rocked the close-knit town of Molong. 

‘It’s devastating for the town of Molong with the loss of a young local lady, it’s terrible news for the families,’ mayor Kevin Beatty told Nine News. 

‘Last night in town it was very sombre and again today, it’s been very quiet.’

‘It’s not good news for the town at all.’ 

A local woman who knew the pair said she is ‘shattered beyond words’ while members of the community said the crash will affect the whole town.

‘I have no words for the heartache on my mind right now only a massive ache in my heart,’ she said.
