A mother-of-two from Mississippi has been arrested on a child abuse count after allegedly sending someone text messages claiming that she had choked her infant daughter with a car charger and left her in the woods.
Santangela Turner, 26, of Laurel, also allegedly sent photos showing herself pulling a white cord around the neck of her three-month-old baby and the infant crying, as well as a picture of the child lying on her back with a knife pointed at her neck.
In one message, the woman threatened to harm the baby, according to a press release from the Jones County Sheriff’s Office. The written threat was accompanied by a photo of the newborn with the cord around her neck.

Investigators learned of the alleged abuse from Child Protective Services on December 13, and a warrant was then issued for Turner’s arrest.
The mother-of-two turned herself in to the authorities on Monday and was charged with felonious child abuse.
At her initial court appearance at Jones County Justice Court the following day, Turner’s family members claimed that she was suffering from postpartum depression and seeking psychological help, reported Fox 23.
A judge set Turner’s bail at $10,000 and barred her from being around any children, including her own.
Turner was released from jail on Wednesday afternoon.
