The moment a mass brawl broke out between drunk footy fans and police has been captured on camera. 

The riot began as security tried to evict six men from the Greater Western Sydney and Collingwood match at Melbourne’s MCG on Saturday. 

The video, obtained by 9News, shows the violent outbreak unfolding after one of the men threw a drink at a guard in the Olympic stand about 6.30pm.

 More police swooped in with capsicum spray to subdue aggressive revellers as other footy fans shoved and pushed police as they jumped in to join the action.  

 Police were forced to pin some spectators down, as they arrested two men, a 24-year-old and a 27-year-old, who were involved in the clash. 

A further four were served with penalty notices for riotous behaviour and another two were evicted.

 The police investigation is ongoing. 

The altercation tainted the victory of the GWS Giants, who secured their first ever grand final appearance in a gripping four point win.

A total of 77,828 fans arrived at headquarters for the preliminary final. 

Richmond will face the victors at the MCG Grand Final on 28 September.
