Moment angry motorist confronts traffic warden parked on double yellow lines

Council says traffic wardens are ALLOWED to park on double yellow lines to do their job ‘quickly and safely’ after one has angry bust-up with motorist

A council has defended a traffic warden who was filmed parked on double yellow lines and said she is entitled to park there to do her job ‘quickly and safely’. 

The blue-haired uniformed parking inspector was filmed by an angry driver as she returned to her white, Peugeot 108 hatchback in Slough, Berkshire on Tuesday evening. 

The footage showed the car parked partly on the double yellow lines and partly on the kerb and triggered fury online.

However, Slough  Borough Council defended the warden and said she was doing ‘nothing wrong’. 

A statement said: ‘Our civil enforcement officers (parking staff) are entitled to park on yellow lines when they are on duty so they can do their jobs quickly and safely.

‘The lady in the video is not doing anything wrong.’

In the footage, the man filming asked the warden : ‘Why are you parked on double yellow?’

She replied: ‘Ask council.’

He then asked her for her badge number but the warden ignored him, refusing to make eye contact as she put her key in the ignition.

The man continued to film her, adding: ‘Parked on double yellow, yeah? Oh here we go, evidence. Now she is running away, running away now.’

Parking on double yellow lines is illegal and can lead to a £70 fixed penalty notice fine.

Locals blasted her for not settling the right example

Queenie Olynie said: ‘These wardens should be setting an example, this is disgusting behaviour.’

Another – called Derek – fumed: ‘She gave me a ticket, whilst parked on double yellows herself.’

One mum – called Sarah – added: ‘This is the same stupid woman that gives you tickets at the school.’
