Moment shameless Amazon delivery driver approaches destination and casually tosses parcel into front yard

  • George Curl was at home in Ascot when Amazon driver called with his package
  • But he looked out of the window to find that his order had been left on the lawn
  • CCTV footage showed the driver had launched the parcel over his fence
  • Amazon apologised to him by email and offered him a £5 gift voucher

This is the moment a shameless Amazon delivery driver tosses a parcel into the recipient’s front yard without even checking if the occupant was home.

George Curl, 27, was at home waiting for his order of vitamins when he noticed the white van drive away.

As he looked out the window, he saw his cardboard parcel lying on the grass outside.

The carpenter checked CCTV which showed the delivery driver casually strolling over to the front of his home, throw the parcel over the fence.

Then the worker took a photo of it on the lawn in Ascot, Berkshire, to show Amazon his delivery was ‘on time’, on Saturday at around 12.55pm.

Mr Curl said he was so annoyed he complained to Amazon, but was only offered an apology and a £5 gift voucher.

‘It’s very clear that he made no attempt whatsoever to come in, or knock on the door – and we were at home as well,’ he said.

‘I only saw the white van drive away at the last minute, as he drove away, and noticed a brown package on the grass outside.

‘So I went outside to check and my name and address were on the parcel. I was annoyed, angered, and in total disbelief. To be honest, I feel like I’ve been cheated of Prime service.

‘I’d only ordered vitamins, so luckily nothing fragile that could have broken – but I don’t think that’s the point really.’

Amazon’s email response to Mr Curl’s complaint read: ‘Hello Mr. George, I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had an issue with your delivery.

‘I understand that the driver was careless with the package when delivering your order.

‘We make great efforts to ensure orders are packaged appropriately, and that they’re handled with care during delivery, to ensure customers receive their orders in perfect condition.

‘We conduct investigations to eliminate these issues, and ensure that parcels are delivered safely.

‘I have passed the details of this incident for investigation, so that appropriate action may be taken, to prevent this issue recurring.

‘I understand the inconvenience this situation has caused and on this occasion, I’d like to give you £5.00 promotional credit as a goodwill gesture’.

George added: ‘All that fussing around, trying to make things right after that shocking service – I feel like I’ve worked the weekend.’

An Amazon spokesperson said: ‘We have very high standards for our delivery service providers and expect every package to be handled with care.

‘We are investigating the incident with our delivery service provider and are in direct communication with the customer.’
