  • At the last minute, Sami Zayn pulls Owens out the way

  • WWE has released a statement regarding Mr Mahon’s injuries

This is the horrifying moment a WWE wrestler plunged 20ft off the top of a Hell in a Cell cage and through the announcers table – leaving him with broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder.

Shane McMahon, the son of WWE owner Vince McMahon, was fighting Kevin Owens in the main event of the Sunday’s Pay-Per-View when he took the dive.

He was trying to land an elbow onto his opponent but fellow WWE star Sami Zayn pulled Owens out the way, causing McMahon to plummet through the table and injuring him.

Gasps can be heard as the 47-year-old jumps through the air and slams into the table.

As soon as he lands, referees run over to help Mr McMahon and quickly wave their arms to call for medical assistance.

A WWE statement said: ‘SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon has been taken to a local medical facility after leaping from the top of Hell in a Cell and crashing through an announce table during his brutal Falls Count Anywhere Hell in a Cell Match against Kevin Owens.

‘A preliminary report has determined that Shane may be dealing with multiple injuries, including neck trauma, fractured ribs and a dislocated shoulder.

‘While nothing has been confirmed at this time, WWE.com will continue to monitor Shane’s condition.’

It is not the first time Shane McMahon has wowed audiences with his death-defying stunts.

During his fight with The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 32, he tried to perform a similar finishing move.
