A home cook has revealed how she made the perfect brownies using avocados that taste just as good as a chocolate mud cake.

Mon Mack, from Queensland, shared a viral TikTok video showing exactly how she made the baked treat at home.

To make the dessert, she used flour, sugar, egg, baking powder, cocoa, vanilla extract, a pinch of salt and most surprisingly, an avocado.

The avocado is said to add a creamy, rich, velvety texture to the brownie – and it’s typically used as a healthy baking substitute for butter.

What you’ll need to make avocado brownie

1 avocado

1 egg

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 tsp baking powder

1/4 cup flour

1/4 cup cocoa

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

‘If there’s one thing I hate more than anything – it’s the flavour of cooked avocado so I was super sceptical making these,’ Mon said.

‘But I kid you not, they taste just like a chocolate mud cake. They are super easy to make.’

She started by blending an avocado, sugar and egg in a blender until smooth.

Mon poured the mixture into a bowl and added flour, baking powder, cocoa, vanilla extract and salt.

She then transferred the mixture to a prepared baking dish.

‘Smooth out the top and add some chopped up chocolate,’ she said.

She baked in the oven at 180C for 20 minutes.

Her video has since been viewed more than 180,000 times, with many saying it’s one of their favourite desserts to bake.

‘Avo brownies are amazing. They always so fudgy especially when they’re warm,’ one woman wrote.

However some were not too keen on ‘cooked avocados’, with one asking: ‘Does it actually taste like a brownie though?’

Mon responded, saying she couldn’t taste the avocado flavour because the brownie was packed with cocoa and chocolate.
