Mo’Nique takes on Amy Schumer and Netflix in latest video

Mo’Nique is once again going after Netflix and taking on Amy Schumer in the process as she calls out the disparity in ‘bankability’ of the stars by comparing profits from their movies.

The 50-year-old posted another video to her Instagram account on Monday in which she cited numbers to support her claim that the streaming service was wrong for paying her $12.5million less than Schumer for their comedy specials.

She and husband Sydney recorded the video in front of shelves filled with the star’s numerous awards — which include an Oscar for her role in Precious.

Just four days after she posted her initial video calling for a boycott of the streaming service for offering her just $500,000 to do a comedy special while Amy Schumer was paid $13million, she has called out the disparity in profits from two of their movies.

In the video, the comedian’s husband Sydney started by saying: ‘We’ve been hearing a lot of conversation in reference to bankability.

‘So we thought we would do a little fact checking. We got some information from Box Office Mojo.’

Mo’Nique took over and said: ‘In 2017, Amy Schumer did a film called Snatched. That film made $45million domestically.

‘In 2016, I did a film called Almost Christmas. That film made $42million domestically.

‘Amy Schumer’s budget for Snatched was $42million… and it was in 3,511 theaters.

‘Almost Christmas’s budget was $17million and it made $42million — a $25million profit — and it was in 2,379 theaters.

‘Could somebody please make it make sense? And can you see the disparity in that number and what bankability really is?’

The streaming service, which is currently airing a Mo’Nique special called I Coulda Been Your Cellmate, has not addressed the star’s claims.

Shortly after her initial video was posted, Wanda Sykes revealed on Twitter that Netflix offered her half of Mo’Nique’s salary, just $250,000, so she decided to take it elsewhere.

The Precious star called for a boycott of the streaming service after she found out that Chris Rock and Dave Chapel each received $20 million for their comedy specials, on top of Schumer’s $13million pay check.

In her initial video, posted on Friday, Mo’Nique said: ‘I am asking that you stand with me and boycott Netflix for gender bias and color bias.

She added that when she questioned Netflix on why the money was so different, they said: ‘We believe that’s what Mo’Nique will bring.’

‘I said: “What about my resume?” They said, “We don’t go off of resumes”,’ the actress told fans in her video.

She then asked what made Schumer worth millions and Netflix allegedly cited the star’s two sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden and a hit summer movie.

‘Is that not Amy Schumer’s resume?’ she said.

According to Mo’Nique, Netflix told her they believe she’s a ‘legend’ in her field.

‘Then why shouldn’t I get what the legends are getting?’ she said, before urging her fans: ‘Please stand with me in this boycott of Netflix.’

This isn’t the first time Mo’Nique has commented on pay disparity. Last year, she lashed out at Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry and Lee Daniels for not paying her fairly.

‘I know they like to say: ‘Mo’Nique, you talk too motherf***ing much’. It would kill me not to say the real s***. You are not paying me equally. You are not treating me fairly, so you can suck my d*** if I had one,’ she said during a May show at the Apollo Theater.
