Morning Joe hosts launch attack on President Trump

The hosts of Morning Joe went after President Trump on Twitter after the Commander-in-Chief went after their MSNBC show.

President Trump quoted a tweet from Director of Social Media Dan Scavino on Monday morning that called the program’s obviously pre-taped episode on Friday ‘fake news’, writing: ‘The good news is that their ratings are terrible, nobody cares!’

That prompted a flurry of tweets from Joe Scarborough, who wrote: ‘You care. Oh, how you care so much.’

He then added: ‘Still watching I see. You remain our most obsessed viewer.’

Mika Brzezinski meanwhile went a bit harder, tweeting: ‘We finally know who the single-sourced anonymous viewer was who whined to the Washington Post. #MouthBreather’

Scarborough did not just got after President Trump either, also taking aim at Scavino.

‘Hey buddy, should I use a 9 iron from here or my pitching wedge? By the way, get my shoes polished at the turn,’ wrote Scarborough in response to Scavino’s fake news tweet.

Scavino was working as a caddie before joining the Trump campaign.

Scarborough then had second thoughts and decided to delete his posts, explaining: ‘I’m taking my Trump tweets down. Too 2017 for me.’

When writer Emma Kennedy responded to this by telling him not to give up the fight, Scarborough stated: ‘The fight continues but it can’t be personal. It’s about a bad tax bill, a gutted State Department, defending the free press, and all working together to push back at attempts to undermine constitutional norms.’

Just before her went after Morning Joe, President Trump was accusing all the network news organizations of promoting ‘fake news’ in a bizarre tweet that asked Twitter users to vote on the matter.

‘We should have a contest as to which of the Networks, plus CNN and not including Fox, is the most dishonest, corrupt and/or distorted in its political coverage of your favorite President (me). They are all bad. Winner to receive the FAKE NEWS TROPHY!’ wrote Trump.

He did not include a poll however with that tweet.

Brzezinski and Scarborough welcomed viewers back from the Thanksgiving holiday earlier in the day by making fun of the ‘shocked’ and ‘saddened’ individuals who expressed outrage over the show’s decision to pre-tape their episode on Friday.

‘Do you believe these people?’ Scarborough could be heard saying to Brzezinski and the show’s panelists, with the host in mid-conversation as the program began on Monday.

‘Every time we do a Thanksgiving episode we tape it, and then we make fun of the fact that we’re taping it.’

Scarborough went on to reenact one of the moments that played out on air last Friday, saying: ‘”How was your dinner? Oh, I am stuffed,” and then Willie [Geist] will always go, “But, boy, that game last night.”‘

He then stated: ‘It’s very obvious. You would have to be extraordinarily…’

Brzezisnki cut him off at that point and said: ‘A moron. Maybe Trump was watching and – oh, my god, that’s it.’

The hosts, who could not contain their laughter throughout the opening segment, later informed viewers: ‘And we’re gonna do it again on Christmas.’
