Mother, 27, shares the eight-step ab workout she swears by for getting ripped after giving birth – and why squats are her signature move

A first-time mother has revealed the eight-step ab workout she swears by for getting a six pack of abs just 10 months after giving birth to her son.

Sarah Stevenson, who blogs under the name Sarah’s Day, had her boy Fox Ocean in March last year and has been focused on her body ‘comeback’ ever since.

The 27-year-old living in Cronulla, Sydney, likes to do a mixture of high intensity workouts at the gym, reformer Pilates and yoga classes to keep her muscles strong, but particularly attributes her abs to one eight-step routine.

In her most recent YouTube video Sarah shared that workout with her 1.36million subscribers, describing how they should be performed slowly to get the best outcome (pictured left 11 weeks postpartum; right 10 months)

She starts with single leg knee tucks in a high plank position, encouraging her fans and fellow gym bunnies to suck their belly buttons to their spine to target the area.

Then she lies on her back and slowly sits up, before performing a vertebrae roll down, lengthening out her spine.

Finally she does cross body band pulls to activate the muscles in her biceps and triceps, sucking in her stomach to ensure her back isn't compromised

This is followed by leg raises while holding a medicine ball, a static hold with a ball held between the thighs and split leg slides.

While you’ll likely be breaking a sweat by now the next move – which is bicycles – will cool things off again by being slightly easier, giving you a moment to catch your breath.

The she performs one of the ‘best core moves you can do’ by using a barbell to front squat.

‘You have to be strong in the front to hold up the bar, meaning it’s actually firing up your core,’ Sarah said.

Sarah was initially disheartened to find that her incredibly svelte body didn’t immediately ‘bounce back’ to what it was pre-birth.

It required her to rigorously train three times a week and eat a protein-rich diet, before she saw major results.

In December Sarah’s boyfriend Kurt Tilse proposed while on a family holiday in Hawaii, meaning 2020 will likely involve a lot of wedding planning for the couple.
