A mother accused of hitting her own daughter with her car while allegedly three times over the legal drinking limit at a 21st birthday has had a restraining order taken out against her.
Dale Palmer, 58, was charged with hitting her daughter Keely with a Toyota Starlet hatchback and dragging her 100 metres down a street about 12.40am on Sunday near her home in Caringbah, in Sydney’s south.
Keely suffered serious injuries, including fractures to her arms and legs, and neighbours have recalled hearing first responders screaming out to ‘get a jack’ and retrieve her from under the car.
Keely was rushed to hospital. Police charged her mother with aggravated dangerous driving inflicting grievous bodily harm and high-range drink driving.
Police have since taken out an interim Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) to protect Keely.
Under the terms of court order, Ms Palmer is banned from going near Keely for at least 12 hours after drinking alcohol or taking illicit drugs.

The mother’s bail conditions ban her from getting in the driver’s seat of a car, drinking or taking drugs whatsoever and must not live with her daughter.
Neighbour Amber Wardrop-Barros told 9 News the 27-year-old was screaming in agony.
‘She was just bellowing, crying, screaming. It was pretty shocking,’ she said. ‘They were saying “can someone get a jack, get someone get a jack?”‘
Emergency workers raced to the scene to find the young woman trapped beneath the vehicle, and worked for more than an hour to free her.
Keely was rushed to St George Hospital in a serious condition with significant leg and arm injuries.
Her 58-year-old mother was arrested at the scene and taken to Sutherland Police Station where a breath analysis allegedly returned a reading of 0.166.

She was granted bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court on Wednesday. Her licence was suspended.
Police Chief Inspector Gary Ford said it is not yet clear how Palmer came to hit her daughter.
‘There was a family gathering at the mother’s house and an incident occurred in a street outside a driveway,’ Insp Ford said.

‘The 27-year-old woman is not well enough to be spoken to at this time. She was trapped underneath that vehicle for a little over an hour before emergency services were able to free her.’
One neighbour, Ryan, told The Daily Telegraph he heard music at the property but did not hear any conflict.
At 2.30am, he awoke and saw cops standing out the front.
‘I always see the bloke out the front gardening and the kids always go out on the boat. The woman may have been dropping the kids off and then came back. They seem like a nice family,’ he said.
Police investigations are continuing.
