Mother and daughter are rushed to hospital after being run down in a busy Bunnings carpark – trapping one of the women under the car for more than an hour

A mother and daughter have been rushed to hospital after they were run over in a Bunnings warehouse carpark.

The two women, aged 65 and 89, were standing together in the carpark of the Katoomba store, in the Blue Mountains, when a car reversed into them.

The younger of the pair was trapped under the car for 90 minutes while rescue teams worked to try to free her.

A CareFlight rapid response helicopter arrived at 10:30am, where they assisted paramedics, Police Rescue and NSW Fire and Rescue crews to carefully free the trapped woman.

They treated her for injuries to her head, arms and legs.

She was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition. 

The 89-year-old was flown to hospital by NSW Ambulance helicopter, and suffered an injury to her leg.
