A woman whose husband allegedly raped and killed their daughter by strangling her died ‘from a broken heart’ six months later.
Anna Zubko’s husband, Yaroslav Oleinikov, is alleged to have murdered their six-year-old daughter, Veronika, and strung her up from a fence with her favourite toy wrapped round her neck.
A forensic medical examination showed he raped Veronika several times before her death, Russian police said.

The mother-of-two never recovered from the tragedy and died of pneumonia six months after the death of her beloved daughter.
Veronika was found hanged from the fence in the courtyard near the family’s house in the city of Rostov-on-Don in southwestern Russia’s Rostov Oblast region in September last year.
Oleinikov, 28, was arrested and taken into custody and was charged with rape and murder.
Following the tragedy, heartbroken Ms Zubko fell into severe depression and did not seek medical help for her chest infection and died when her illness became deadly.
After the funeral of her daughter, the 27-year-old, who always dreamed of having a husband and children, was deprived of parental rights and her three-year-old son Ivan was placed in an orphanage.
Her mental state made her indifferent to her physical health and when she got a cold soon after the tragedy, she did nothing to treat it.

Ms Zubko was a cleaning lady in a local supermarket while Oleinikov was unemployed and he was supposed to take care of their children when she was at work.
Neighbours said the family led a quiet and isolated life, local media reported.
A male neighbour of the family said: ‘The family had an isolated life. The murdered girl did not attend a kindergarten for some reason and could barely speak.
‘Though I have never seen the parents to be drunk or arguing with each other. They seemed to be a normal family.’
Oleinikov will stand trial soon and faces up to 20 years in prison if found guilty.
