A mother on a well-deserved getaway has been left fighting for her life after she was placed in an induced coma while on holiday in Bali.
Abby Hartley’s family have launched a desperate plea to raise money for their loved one after her insurance company refused to cover her medical costs.
The New Zealand mother experienced severe pain shortly after arriving in Bali with her husband and was rushed to the nearest hospital.
Mrs Hartley was quickly transferred to ICU in BIMC hospital Nusa Dua to deal with her severe condition.

The doctors found that Mrs Hartley had a twist in her bowel and was forced to undergo emergency surgery.
Despite spending 48 hours in recovery, Mrs Hartley quickly took a turn for the worst and developed acute respiratory distress syndrome where she was only taking in 70 per cent oxygen.
‘The doctors made the call to put her into an induced coma and keep her on an oxygen machine to avoid any further deprivation of oxygen to her brain,’ said Mrs Hartley’s daughter Sarah.
‘Dad told us kids to get on the first plane over from NZ as things weren’t looking too good and mum needed all the support she could get,’ Sarah said.
Sarah has launched an online campaign on givealittle to raise $75,000 to cover the expensive medical bills.
The ‘Help Abby Fight’ page was created on Thursday and has already received almost $20,000 in donations.

‘Our mum is fighting for her life in ICU in a hospital in Bali and unfortunately insurance company is refusing to cover any medical costs,’ the campaign reads.
Mrs Hartley has been in hospital since August 1 and her infection has progressed into septicemia which requires expensive medication.
‘Yesterday (08-08) we got an updated bill of NZD$35,000 and today due to the sepsithemia and the antibiotics mum needs for 14 days we got handed an extra bill for NZD$40,000,’ Sarah said.
The money raised will go towards paying for the 24-hour care and observation of Mrs Hartley and all medications she needs.
‘Mum is a fighter and we can all tell she is trying very hard to fight all problems that are thrown her way,’ Sarah said.

The family hopes to raise $75,000 to over the 24-hour care and expensive medication. Mrs Hartley is in ICU at BIMC hospital Nusa Dua (pictured)
