Mother films moment her daughter responds after aneurysm

A Texas mother has filmed the touching moment her hospital-bound daughter indicated she wanted ice cream and chocolate pudding soon after suffering a severe aneurysm.

Carla Resendiz’s eight-year-old daughter Holly remains in a barely conscious state in a Dallas children’s hospital after having the aneurysm on Monday night.

The little girl was medically paralyzed by doctors when she arrived at the hospital as they desperately tried to drain fluid and relieve the pressure and bleeding on her brain.

Doctors started to wean her off some medication on Tuesday to see if they could get any response from her.

Her mother Carla told DailyMail.com that she decided to film the moment for family members with the hope that Holly would at least flutter her eyelids.

‘We didn’t know if she was still in there… I wasn’t expecting her to respond. Her eyes were opening up a little, so I was trying to catch some of that,’ Carla said.

Instead, the third-grader remarkably started responding to her mother’s voice and squeezing her hand like the ‘little fighter she is’.

‘Okay Holly, how about some chocolate pudding for breakfast?’ Carla asked her daughter as she lied in the hospital bed with tubes coming out of her body.

Much to her mother’s surprise, Holly started nodding her head.

‘Should we get chocolate ice cream for lunch?’ her mother asked as Holly nodded her head again.

When Carla then asked if Holly wanted broccoli, the little girl quickly shook her head to say no.

‘Oh hunny, you’re doing wonderfully. You keep fighting for mumma,’ Carla could be heard saying.

Moments later, Holly squeezed her mother’s hand when she asked if she loved her.

Doctors are still trying to determine what caused Holly to suffer the aneurysm and are looking at whether the little girl suffered a stroke.

Scans taken on Wednesday revealed a cluster of abnormal vessels at the base of her brain that need to be treated.

Carla is now holding out hope that her little girl can fully recover given doctors still don’t know the extend of the damage.

She said Holly showed no signs of being ill in the lead up to the episode.

‘Holly was perfectly fine. She was playing, she was physically fine. She had her sister Camilla’s birthday on Saturday,’ Carla said.

‘Then she was with my mom while I was at work (on Monday) and mom heard her scream.

‘Holly was screaming saying her head hurts.’

The family have set up of GoFundMe page as Holly continues to undergo treatment in hospital.
