A woman has been left raging after she found needles sticking out of the sand at a popular Gold Coast swimming spot. 

The woman took to Facebook to share a photo of her shocking discovery, saying she spotted the syringe near Kingscliff Bowls Club.

‘Found this on the beach in the sand,’ she said. ‘There are some very sick people out there.’

The post attracted hundreds of comments, with many labelling the finding as ‘disturbing’ and ‘disgusting’.  

One user noted it’s not the first time needles had been spotted at the same beach.  

‘What is wrong with people. My kids and I are down there all the time, barefoot!’ a furious mother said.

One user suggested the needles are deliberately placed in an attempt to harm the public, but others believed they may have washed up on the beach.   

Tweed Shire Council have been notified and locals hope action will be taken.  

Beachgoers are being urged to keep their shoes on.
