Mother-of-three, 32, ‘who had sex with boy, 14’ tells court ‘he didn’t tell me he was in Year 9’

A mother-of-three accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy after luring him back to her house has told a court he ‘didn’t tell her he was in Year 9’ and it ‘didn’t occur’ to her that he might be under age.

Teah Vincent, 32, lured two 14-year-old boys back to her home in Woolaston, near Lydney in Gloucestershire, in October 2018 after seeing them playing football nearby, a court heard.

She accepts having sex with one of the boys, but denies a charge of knowingly having sex with a child under the age of 16.  

The prosecution allege she lured the boy and his friend back to her home by offering them a glass of water.

She then asked the younger of the two boys up to her bedroom where she stripped off, pulled him onto her bed, and got on top of him to have sex, it is alleged.

Ms Vincent told the jury today ‘I don’t deny we had sex. I didn’t force him, he happily responded on his own accord.  

The victim is said to have pushed Vincent off and ‘fled downstairs,’ after she lured him to her bedroom. The mother-of-three broke down in tears today when she was asked about her children and the fact that social services had become involved

‘I’m sure he told me he was 16 and I felt he looked much older. It didn’t occur to me that he might be under age.

‘He definitely didn’t tell me he was in Year Nine, or that he was only 14, before we had sex.’

Prosecutor Christopher Smyth told the jury yesterday Vincent mounted the teenager and initiated sex without talking to him about it first.

The victim described Vincent ‘bouncing up and down on him’ for around five minutes.

Vincent admits having sex with the boy on October 21 2018 but maintains she believed he was over 16 at the time. She told Gloucester Crown Court today he ‘looked older’ 

The prosecutor said: ‘He says there was no discussion at all. The boy had a strong feeling that the situation was not right.

‘He knew he was under age and that there was a big age gap between them – she was more than twice his age.

‘In the end he pushed her off, got dressed and fled downstairs.

Vincent broke down in tears today when she was asked about her three children and the fact that social services had become involved.

Ms Vincent said that she had not seen the alleged victim before that afternoon but she did know a 21-year old-man who was a friend of the boy’s.

She believed the boys were playing football near her house because they were ‘interested’ in being with her. 

Vincent claimed the two teenagers were looking for more of a friendship, rather than having a sexual motive.

She said that when the boys came round she didn’t offer them alcohol, just water.

After she had sex with the boy, Vincent said: ‘There was a discussion about school and I realised he was not in the sixth form and it was only then I realised his actual age. I think he panicked when he revealed his age being 14.

‘I’m angry with myself and I am angry with them for lying about their ages. If I had known the truth at the time I wouldn’t be here in court now.’

Vincent then allegedly swore at the victim’s mother when she confronted her on her doorstep after the boy reported the incident to his parents

The victim has previously recalled ‘wrestling the woman off him’, adding: ‘I got dressed and told my friend as I got downstairs we had to go.

‘His reaction was that I had been an idiot.

‘My mother went to see her a few days later and challenged her. She told her that the police needed to be involved. Her response was: “Get the f***ing police then.”‘
