Mother-of-three posts snaps from her daughter’s $500 sleepover soirée

Trying to come up with a new and ingenious idea for your child’s birthday party can be tedious.

But with the help of Kmart, Kaysand Whitehurst set herself up with an incredible sleepover extravaganza she’ll be using for her daughters in years to come.

The NSW-based mother-of-three purchased 10 airbeds, pillows, fitted sheets, blankets and tents to curate the ultimate birthday for $500.

But with the help of Kmart Kaysand Whitehurst has managed to set herself up with an incredible sleepover extravaganza she’ll be using for her daughters in years to come

The tents, which cost $20 each, come in a grey colour so Kaysand bought 30m of purple cotton fabric from Spotlight to make the ‘walls’ of the tepees.

She’ll use the grey colour again for her son’s birthday.

‘The tents disassemble and are very compact. The grey didn’t suit my girly girl at all. I made another set of covers, my other daughter wants black so I’ll keep my eye out for another 40 per cent off sale at Spotlight,’ she said.

‘This is my three kids parties done for the next few years I just need to maintain and add food, games and a cake.’

She was particularly impressed with the $8 airbeds, which she blew up with a vacuum the day before and 'were spot on' by the night of the party

The fairy lights, which were ‘randomly on sale from $8 down to $2’, made the perfect addition come evening time.

‘I just wish they had more at the time,’ she said.

While fellow mothers on Facebook praised Kaysand for even throwing a sleepover with 10 young girls, she said it was easier than it seemed.

‘Depending on the personalities having more kids is easier then just a few,’ she said.

‘The girls that were here were amazing and pretty much entertained themselves.’

At first inspection the $500 price may seem a tad steep, but when you consider the cost of your average party at an ice-skating rink, movies or bowling alley – Kaysand said it was a ‘good investment’.

‘I just need to make sure we use it. I have another four slumber parties planned in the next two months so I reckon I will,’ the clever mother said.

And while photos of the sweet evening attracted high praise from other mothers in the Kmart Mums Australia group – many were distracted by the view.

‘Does the house come with the slumber party?’ One person wrote, while another asked where she lived to attract scenery like that.

‘The Hawkesbury River. It’s an hour out of Sydney and absolute bliss,’ Kaysand replied.
