A couple have transformed their dated ensuite into a Bali-inspired bathroom complete with a waterfall shower, ‘his and hers’ sinks and a freestanding tub – without the help of professional tradesmen.
Hilary and her partner gutted garish fixtures like a yellow bath and a pink toilet from the second bathroom of their New South Wales home and replaced them with stylish but affordable accessories in a monochrome colour scheme.
The mother-of-three decorated with towels from Cotton On, wicker baskets, mirrors and plant pots from Kmart and floor mats from Bunnings.
She posted photos of the bathroom before and after renovation in a Facebook group, telling members she was ‘pretty proud’ of what they had accomplished.

The post has drawn widespread praise, racking up more than 800 ‘likes’ and hundreds of comments from DIY renovators eager to upgrade their own bathrooms.
‘This is absolutely stunning,’ said one.
Another called it her ‘dream bathroom’ but said she’d prefer brass or gold hardware rather than black.

‘At first quick glance at one of your videos I thought there were two wine bottles in the shower recess. Bathroom goals!’ said a third.
Others called it ‘exquisite’ and said Hilary was right to be ‘very proud’ of her ‘beautifully done’ bathroom.
Replying to questions in the comments, she said she used a bath mat from Sage and Clare and a floor mat from Bunnings, Turkish towels from Cotton On and wicker baskets from Kmart.
