Mother-of-two Sophie Cachia undergoes breast reduction surgery

Sophie Cachia has undergone a breast reduction surgery, taking her from a 12FF to a 12C after she suffered years of excruciating back pain.

The 27-year-old author has opened up about her decision to go under the knife on a live Q&A video posted to Instagram over the weekend.

The entrepreneur, otherwise known as ‘The Young Mummy’, from Melbourne, said she had been struggling with body image issues since her early teens.

‘As long as I can remember my adult life has been surrounded by “Sophie with the big t**s”- that’s what I guess I’ve been known as,’ she said.

‘I feel like my boobs almost did define me in a way. Because everyone just knew Sophie’s got the big boobs.’

She revealed at the tender age of 14 or 15, her breasts started to grow out of control – going from a C-cup to a double G almost ‘overnight’.

Sophie explained that her big bust had proved problematic growing up.

‘My friends would laugh at me when I’d wear three bras for PE class at school,’ she recalled.

‘I actually get really upset [thinking about this]. Going bather shopping as a teenage girl when you’ve got G cup boobs over ten years ago was a really bad time.

‘And I think of those times and I think, “that’s why you got your breast reduction”.’

At the age of 18, her mother took her to a consultation with a doctor to discuss the possibility of undergoing a breast reduction surgery.

‘She saw the tears, she saw the teasing, she saw how many people would gawk at me… she saw the heartache,’ Sophie recalled.

Despite her breasts taking an emotional and physical toll on her life, Sophie decided to postpone the surgery because she felt she wasn’t ready at the time.

And a decade later, Sophie said she doesn’t regret her decision to undergo surgery.

‘I definitely knew it was something I wanted to do. It didn’t make it any less daunting though. And it didn’t make it any less scary,’ she said.

After spending 10 years researching, Sophie said she was finally ‘mentally prepared’ to go under the knife – but admitted she was still casting doubt on the surgery.

‘One hundred per cent this was one of my fears. It’s a life-changing operation,’ she said.

‘I’ve always been Sophie with the big boobs. And while there were so many negatives connotation with that, it was part of my identity.

‘You can’t be guaranteed with what they’re going to look like.’

But despite her concerns, the mother-of-two said she feels happier more than ever after getting her breast reduction eight days ago.

‘The first few days were really yucky being so sick, but I’m eight days post now and feeling nearly back to normal,’ she said.

‘I’m extremely happy with my results so will be slowly allowing my body to recover and heal as it needs to over the next 12 weeks, cause it ain’t cheap girlfriend and ain’t nobody making me ever do that again.

‘Surgery such as this is extremely personal, and something I’ve wanted for over a decade, but was waiting for the right time.’

Before her breast reduction, Sophie – whose large cup size fluctuated from a ’12FF’ to an ‘I’ while breastfeeding her first child Bobby – revealed the excruciating pain she endured living with FF-cups over the years.

‘I wish I could say it’s been a pleasure but that would be a lie,’ she said.

‘You may have provided my husband with many great memories, but for me you’ve caused me severe lifelong back issues, permanent shoulder indents, migraines, many tears in change rooms and whilst attempting to feed my babies as best I could, and one bloody never ending bill from the physio.’
