A 60-year-old mother has taken her close bond with her adult daughter to another level by participating in a breastfeeding lesson with the new mom and her baby.
In a cringe-worthy preview clip for Sunday night’s episode of the TLC reality series sMothered, Dawn Hubsher insists on practicing nursing a baby doll with a fake breast while sitting in on her daughter Cher’s breastfeeding consultation.
The 30-year-old had hired a lactation consultant to help with her breastfeeding problems, leaving her mom feeling a bit insulted. While nursing her hurt ego, Dawn can’t resist over-inserting herself to the point that she is actually getting her own lesson.

Cher and her husband, Jared Gopman, welcomed their daughter, Belle, on July 6, 2019, right before she started filming the new season of sMothered.
‘I think from experience, I know a lot about breastfeeding. It would be nice if she would ask me, too, and include me,’ Dawn says in the clip.
‘If you give advice to your daughter she sometimes doesn’t want to take it or believe it,’ she noted. ‘But if she hears it from somebody else, all of a sudden she believes it and it’s the way to go.’
When the lactation consultant advises Cher to breastfeed the way she feels most comfortable, Dawn butts in to ask her how many different positions there are.

‘It’s absolutely possible for support people and family members to be too involved,’ the consultant notes in her testimonial.
‘If family members are not allowing a new parent to learn to be a new parent, they are probably too involved.’
Dawn explains that she wants to learn how to do all of the positions so she can help her daughter if she has any questions.
‘This is why I bring my doll and our demo breast,’ the consultant says as she hands Dawn the practice tools.

While she had the doll on hand, she admits she ‘never had a grandmother sit next to the breastfeeding parent and act it out.’ However, she wasn’t opposed to the idea.
‘I think for a grandma that really wants to be involved and needs that closeness, it’s a great way for her to be involved,’ she notes.
Before she leaves, the consultant reminds Cher that she knows her baby better than anyone else.
‘Trust your baby; trust your body,’ she advises.
Dawn believes sitting in on the less will help bring her and Cher even closer together as she navigates being a new mom.

‘I think she is going to see how much she needs me,’ the mom says.
In her testimonial, Cher says she knows her mom is ‘so happy’ to be a grandmother, but she is coming on a little too strong.
‘I’m so thankful to have a mother who wants to help so much, but she is wanting to be so involved,’ she explains. ‘Right now I need this opportunity to really be a family with just me, Jared, and Belle, without her in the picture.’
‘There is something Jar and I have talked about that I need to tell my mom, but I haven’t had the courage to tell her yet,’ she adds.

‘My mom is truly my best friend. I wanted to show people that it’s okay to be mom, but it’s okay to be a best friend as well,’ Cher said of returning to reality TV.
Cher famously appeared on My Super Sweet 16 with her mom in 2007.
‘I feel like she is such a big part of my life, and I just wouldn’t have it any other way,’ she added.
