Chelsea Harrison, 29, from Newcastle, New South Wales, has proven that you don’t need to shop at designer home stores to achieve a high quality aesthetic.
Using luxury-looking products from Kmart, Pillow Talk, TK Maxx, Target and Big W, the stay-at-home mother has completely transformed her humble abode – saving herself a small fortune.
‘I like to change my accessories regularly, my passion for decorating makes me want to update all the time. I love mixing a $5 bunch of flowers with a $50 jug,’ she told FEMAIL.
‘I invest in a good piece of quality furniture and I love accessorising with Kmart pieces to give it that finishing touch.’

Mrs Harrison and her husband’s home has an on-trend grey, black and white colour palette that is minimal in its design but has gorgeous accent pieces.
The Chesterfield lounges are from Provincial Home Living and cost $2000, while the ottoman is from Domayne, and cost the family $700.
Although they splurged on their lounges it was a smart investment to make as they intend to keep them forever.
Mr and Mrs Harrison cut back on costs decorating the rest of the room with affordable items, such as the black $20 cushions from Curtain Wonderland.

The entertainment unit cost them $699, the Big W plants cost $12, the photo frames are from Big W and My House for $10 and $20 and the wall decor was from Etsy for $20
The white cushions are by Alex Perry for Linen House and set them back $34.95.
The jug is from Pillow Talk for $29.95, the tray is from Big W for $12 and the cabinet is from TK Maxx, which Ms Harrison said was a ‘bargain find’ for $149.
The topiary plants are from Early Settler for under $100 and the rug is from eBay for $200.
The clock was bought from 1825 Interiors for $120 and the entertainment unit from Early Settler was bought for $699, on sale from $999.
The $19 faux fur rug was from Big W and the frames were from TK Maxx and Big W, all ranging from $10 to $20.

Although Ms Harrison splashed out on a custom made chair for $1,000 she balanced this with a $19 cushion, $1 table, $9 round placemat, $1.50 plant and $10 chairs
The contemporary styling has created a space that allows the occupants to relax in comfort and the room isn’t crammed with too many decorations.
‘Anything I want to change in my house I sell it on Gumtree or Facebook marketplace and then start again,’ she said.
The bathroom also received a luxurious makeover so that Ms Harrison has a relaxing room to escape to, with the candles from Adairs costing $30 and bottles from Pretty Little Designs for $19.
The $39 flowers and $30 pot on the window shelf were from Provincial Home Living and the Quiet New York book cost $20.
Ms Harrison also has the monochromatic theme in the kitchen where she has displayed a $7 Kmart print, IKEA plants for $10 each and a Delonghi toaster and kettle

Ms Harrison is most impressed with the bath from Masters which only cost her $99.
‘When decorating you should consider your overall look and try and shop on sale for those investment pieces,’ she said.
‘Kmart has lots of great low price current style items, and if it’s not exactly what you like use your creativity and grab a tin of paint and hack it. I have saved bucket loads of money from shopping at Kmart.’

She decided to buy a variety of affordable placemats. The rabbits ones were from Provincial Home Living for $14 each, the striped ones are from Target for $1 and the round placemat in the middle is from Kmart for $1.50.

The rug was another eBay purchase and only cost them $200. The long runner is another Target purchase for $15.
‘Always use colours and styles your happy with because at the end of the day it’s your home,’ she said.
‘Be creative and don’t be afraid to try anything. And the best part is that Kmart makes that affordable.’
