Mother says she was fat shamed at Christmas dinner table

Christmas is the only time of year when most of us will overindulge at the dining table without feeling guilty.

But one woman was mercilessly mocked for tucking into her Christmas dinner – by her own family member.

Mumsnet user said she had been ‘fat-shamed’ by her sister-in-law when the yule log was brought out, with the unnamed woman saying the user ‘doesn’t need it’.

She added that she had also been served smaller portions and stopped from snacking during the humiliating Christmas visit.

The revelations shocked other users, who urged the mother to call out the sister-in-law and to spend the festive season elsewhere next year.

Taking to the online forum, the user, using the handle Geegee4, said she is overweight but that she didn’t eat anymore than anyone else.

She then asked if she is she being unreasonable for being ‘tired of being fat shamed at Christmas’.

She posted: ‘Just missed out on Yule log as sister-in-law responded ”she doesn’t need it” when offered by mother-in-law.

‘I have repeatedly been given smaller portions than sister-in-law and others, had a tin of cashews taken off me Christmas Eve as I had ‘scoffed the lot’ (had had a small handful).’

Other users were horrified by the comments, with one calling them 'rude and humiliating'
