A mother killed her two-year-old son when he pleaded with her to stop partying and go home in Russia.

Anna Shishkina, 29, confessed in a Russian Investigation Committee video to stabbing the child a total of eight times in Kirov, 500 miles northeast of Moscow.

In a chilling police reconstruction, she thrust a ruler towards a child manikin to show how she knifed her boy after he went to the door begging to leave.

The woman – a single mum after her husband died – wanted to keep drinking vodka with ‘several’ men in a friend’s flat while the little boy was desperate to go home, she admitted.

Shishkina is recorded saying: ‘He went to open the entrance door, like “Mummy, we need go home”‘.

‘I didn’t go. He decided to open the door, did not listen to me. I grabbed the knife.’

She took it from under a coffee table. He could not open the door,’ she told police in the crime reconstruction. I grabbed the knife, stabbed him two or three times in his side.’

Later she inflicted more stab wounds on the child.

At first police detained one of the men, not believing that the mother could have killed her own son.

She soon confessed and witnesses said she ‘talked calmly’ to interrogators.

Witnesses said she was ‘calm’ and did not appear intoxicated as she admitted to the crime. Later after being detained she showed police the crime scene.

The woman has been detained and her son, five, taken into care.

Neighbours said Shishkina often brought her children to parties with neighbours.

Senior regional politician in Kirov region Roman Titov said her children should have been taken into care earlier.

He blamed a policy which sought to reduce the number of Russian children in orphanages by seeking to support families.

He asked: ‘What else needs to happen for the responsible federal agencies to recognise we are going wrong way?’
