Mother-to-be who lost a baby has been ‘given a sign’ from her unborn son

An expectant mother who fell pregnant after losing a baby has been ‘given a sign’ from her unborn son that everything is okay – as he appeared in the shape of a diamond ring on a scan.

Kerry Webb, 24, from Norwich, went for her five-week internal scan and the pictures  show a thick round outline of the yolk sac like a ring band and the baby as a smaller circle on top – creating a resemblance to an engagement ring.

The mother-of-two took the gleaming comparison as a sign that he was going to be okay after the heartache of miscarrying another baby two years ago.

Kerry admits that she struggled to look at the scan for fear that something might be wrong with the baby – but finally peeked at the screen when her mother called him a ‘diamond baby’.

She said: ‘It made me feel whole again seeing the baby on the screen, even though it did look like a ring. After losing a baby I always felt like something was missing.’

She was amazed when she saw the ‘diamond ring with a heart beat’ – and realised it was her child.

Friends and family found the image of the little boy amazing, and Kerry claims even her grandma got a giggle from the photo after ‘never seeing anything like it’.

Now 21-weeks pregnant, Kerry claims her little boy also gave her a thumbs up at his 20-week scan and is counting down the days until she meets her fourth baby.

Kerry said: ‘We’ve taken the diamond ring as a sign that the baby will be okay. Some might think that sounds silly but on our 20 week scan the little man gave us a little thumbs up too.

‘We had the early scan because we lost our third baby in 2017, so this baby is our rainbow.

‘When we went into the scan and it was being done my mother, who was with me, said that the baby looks like a diamond ring.

‘It took me a while as I was so nervous and worried to even look at the screen after losing a baby before. So I was panicking a bit, until my mum said, ‘Kerry, look at the diamond baby’.

Despite being amazed by their little boy resembling a diamond so early on, Kerry and her fiancé Ben Thraxton (left) 24, claim they have no plans to use it in his name.

‘When I finally look at the scan properly, I thought to myself, ‘is that really my baby?’. I’ve never seen anything like it.

‘I was so amazed, I was so confused. It was like seeing a diamond ring with a heartbeat.

‘This is the first scan picture I’ve ever had a diamond ring scan too, which is why it took me by surprise. It was a totally new and amazing experience for me.

‘All my family were amazed as we had never seen anything like it. They took it well that our baby looked like a diamond.

‘My nanny was giggling though because it was new and in all her years she had never seen a baby scan like it.’

But despite being amazed by their little boy resembling a diamond so early on, Kerry and her fiancé Ben Thraxton, 24, claim they have no plans to use it in his name.

Kerry, a full-time mother , said: ‘We were going to do something with his name to recognise his (diamond) scan but then we knew we would always have the scan photo to show him when he’s older, and we can tell him the story from that.’

‘If he was a girl I think we would have done. We were thinking we would have named him Sapphire-Rose. It’s a huge struggle to think of a boy’s name with something related to a diamond.

‘I can’t wait to meet him. We have been so excited to have another after losing one before, but it was a massive shock too be pregnant again initially.

‘We found out I was pregnant when I was only one or two weeks in, so it feels like (we’ve been waiting) a lifetime already. But I am counting down the days until he is born.

‘Now I can’t wait until he is here and for his big brother and sister to meet him too.

‘It’s just amazing to find that people are so amazed by my scan. I can’t wait for him to grow up and tell him how people were amazed by his baby scan.’
