Mothers share the VERY frustrating conversations they have with their talkative toddlers

Talkative toddlers can be endlessly amusing with their inquisitive chatter, but these brutally honest posts prove just how deeply irritating they can be too.

Mothers from across the UK recounted the cyclical conversations they’ve had with their little ones – and they’ll strike a chord with frustrated parents everywhere.

Taking to Mumsnet, parents shared how they were trapped answering never-ending ‘why’ questions, while others told how their children were so fickle it is as though nothing will make them happy.

The thread was started when one mother shared how her three-year-old was ‘driving her nuts’ with their roley poley obsession.

Recalling a recent conversation, she wrote: ‘”Mummy, I want to do a rolely poley”. “Ok do one then” “Mummy, why can I do a roley poley?”. “Because you want to”.

‘”Mummy, why do I want to do a roley poley?”. “Because you like them”.’

The back-and-forth continued: ‘”Mummy, was my roley poley massive?”. “Yes it was the biggest one I’ve ever seen”. “Mummy, why was my roley poley massive?”‘

The fed-up mother ended the post with: ‘Etc. Etc. And on and on and on!’

Parents reassured her with their own stories, with one explaining how breakfast had turned into a battle of wills.

After making her toddler the toast she had requested, one mother was left stumped when she suddenly turned around and said: ‘I don’t. I want porridge.’

One mother reflected on the ups and downs of life with a toddler, adding: ‘There are moments when I think three is the best age and moments when I am weary with answering bonkers questions and dealing with toddler logic.’

Another woman confessed that no one had told her parenting would be so challenging.

‘At times I want to scream but I try to go along with them so as not to squash their confidence/passion/eagerness to learn,’ she wrote.

‘Just as with reading them bedtime stories, I sometimes want to say “no” but I do it to help them learn and to enjoy time with them.

‘Nobody told me that parenting would be this challenging.’
