Footage showed the station wagon slowly turning right as the motorcyclist sped through the intersection and crashed into the front of the car.

The bike then ricocheted away from the station wagon and hit another car as the man flew through the air and landed on the road.

The 33-year-old Avalon rider landed close to a steel safety fence on the southeast side of the intersection.

The 46-year-old female driver of the station wagon was uninjured.

A CareFlight rescue helicopter rushed to the scene to treat the rider and worked with ambulance paramedics to stabilise the man, who had serious leg injuries.

The man was taken by ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
