Motorist catches two women jump out of their cars to escort an alligator safely across the road

  • Two Florida women were caught on camera helping an alligator cross the road
  • The women held back traffic and nudged the gator forward while it walked
  • It’s believed that the alligator got lost after leaving a nearby recreational park

Two Florida women were caught on video acting as an alligator’s personal bodyguards while it crossed the street at a busy intersection.

The unexpected sight was captured Sunday in Orlando, Florida, by Catherine Kerr, who was in her car at the intersection near recreational Downey Park.

‘There still might be some hope for the world,’ Kerr wrote on Facebook, when she posted the video, which has been viewed more than 33,000 times already.

Two Florida women were spotted exiting their cars at an intersection in Orlando, so they could help escort a lost alligator across the busy street and back to a nearby park

‘I just witnessed two women jump out of their cars at an intersection and stop traffic to help a lost alligator get back to the park,’ she wrote.

In the video, the two women can be seen holding back traffic as the little alligator skidaddles across the road.

When the clearly lost gator pauses uncertainly, one woman claps her hands to draw its attention, while the other shoos it forward by nudging its tail with her foot.

Once the alligator is safely on the sidewalk, the traffic at the busy intersection resumes flowing.

Kerr wrote on Facebook that she contemplated pulling her car over and helping them, since she has some experience handling alligators, ‘but then I was like…they’re doing pretty well on their own!’

Kerr told ClickOrlando.com that she believes the gator originally came from Downey Park. She noted that the women were in different cars when they parked their vehicles and that they redirected traffic and herded the animal back towards the park.
