As a judge on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, she’s a regular face on primetime television every weekend.
And Motsi Mabuse has told that she ‘understands her responsibility’ of being a black woman on TV, stating that she never takes it for granted.
In a candid new interview, she also discusses the Black Lives Matter movement, saying it’s important for the conversation to continue as ‘being black is not a hashtag’.

Speaking to Women & Home magazine, the 39-year-old dancer opened up about the importance for her of using her fame for good and her desire for ‘long-term, sustainable’ change both on and off the screen.
She explained: ‘It’s good that people are having the Black Lives Matter conversation. It’s important this is not just a trend. Being black is not a hashtag. I want to see sustainable and long-term change, not just talk.’
Talking about her position as a black TV personality, she added: ‘I am one of the very few black people in Germany on TV, and on the BBC. I understand my responsibility of representing black people and I don’t take it for granted.’

The star also told of her joy of their being so much diverseness on a hugely popular show such as Strictly, with herself and black dancers such as Johannes Radebe and her younger sister Oti featuring.
She said: ‘So having Johannes [Radebe], Oti and myself on the show, bringing diversity, having dancers from Russia, Spain, China, and now having a same-sex couple, is very important. It’s great to see this inclusiveness on the show.’
Meanwhile, the star also told how it’s easy to judge her professional dancer sister Oti, 30, on Strictly as she has really grown throughout her time on the show and has ‘proven herself.’
Week after week, the Germany-based beauty puts on a dazzling display in an array of glamorous outfits, with Motsi sharing the importance of making an effort on television.

She told how looking glam is ‘not vain’ but simply being ‘professional’ as in the dance world, it’s all about the ‘details’.
Motsi was recently forced to isolate for two weeks following an urgent trip to Germany when her dance school was broken into, causing her to miss out on two weeks of Strictly Come Dancing filming.
She was briefly replaced by Anton Du Beke, however, she returned with a bang on Saturday night looking as glam as ever.

Motsi is happily married to dancer husband Evgenij Voznyuk and the two share a two-year-old daughter, whose name she has never publicly revealed.
Last year Motsi revealed she understands the Strictly curse after breaking off her 11-year marriage to be with her ‘best friend’ and dancing partner in 2014.
Motsi married her first love Timo Kulczak, 42, when she was just 22.
But over a decade later the couple called it quits when Motsi realised she wanted to be with her dance partner Evgenij, who she wed in 2017, as she told The Sun: ‘Three years later whoosh! And then I was married’.
