June 27 – 1.30pm: The desperate search for the 16-year-old leads police to a semi-rural property in Buccan, south of Brisbane.

As detectives arrive, a man escapes through the back door and speeds away in a black utility truck.

Dashcam footage captures the ute swerving through traffic on the M1 motorway before turning off at the Stapylton exit.

Approximately 2pm: The vehicle is tracked to a gated community, where police find the car abandoned, the tray covered by a tarpaulin.

Residents call police after finding shotgun cartridges were spilled over the front seat.

Investigators eventually discover a body in a barrel on the back of the truck.

A resident of the estate claims the driver threatened her with a shotgun and offered her $2,000 to be let into the estate.

A siege situation begins late in the afternoon

June 30: Joseph Geiger, the unit’s tenant, claims he had ‘no idea’ who Sikorsky was before ‘his friend’ brought him to the apartment.

After almost 28 hours holed up in the unit, Sikorksy surrenders to police at about 6.30pm

His lawyer, Brendan Ryan, appears in court and claims Ms Beilby was not murdered.

Her death was instead the result of ‘misadventure’, the defence lawyer claims
