Mov’In Bed outdoor cinema to launch in Sydney

There is nothing quite like snuggling up in bed and watching your favourite movie. 

And now Sydneysiders will be able to meet up and jump into bed with a pal to watch their favourite flicks under the stars. 

Mov’In Bed, the world’s biggest outdoor cinema, is preparing to launch in Sydney with their unique concept – the idea created by BBR Agency who specialise in unique events.

‘We love cinemas and we always wanted to open up an open cinema but didn’t want to do it the normal way, we wanted to bring a new concept,’ Simon Ripaud from BBR told Daily Mail Australia.

‘Season one launched in 2016, it was a trial to see if we would have a good response and it sold out in two weeks,’ he said.

‘We had a great reaction, people loved the idea and concept so we thought, “okay let’s make it bigger”, so for our second season in April [this year] we included 150 beds.’

This is when Mov’In Bed became known as the worlds biggest outdoor cinema.

 There is a variety of food on offer such as pasta, pizza and burgers which will all be served to you while your cuddled up with your snuggle buddy

‘People loved the idea because it’s a great night out which is what led us to do it again.’

Due to people’s demand the bed cinema is back but this time moving from Parramatta to be in the more convenient location of Moore Park in Sydney from October 27 until December 10.

‘Many people wanted to go to Parramatta but it was too far so we’ve brought it to the centre of Sydney,’ Simon explained.

The first edition was about international movies as they wanted it to be like a festival cinema but now now BBR Agency are mixing things up.

‘This year people can also order the food from the bed and it will be delivered straight to them,’ Simon said 

‘We want to offer a broad selection of movies, not just the most recent, it’s an eclectic combination so that there is something for everyone.’

This year the organisers have also included two new aspects to the evening: party nights and the ability to order food from your bed.  

The party nights are held four times over the three month period and instead of opening the doors at 6.30 people are able to arrive at 5 for a drink and a boogie with a DJ.

The first party is this Saturday for Halloween, the second evening is a ‘love is love’ celebration showing Brokeback Mountain and Moonlight, the third celebrates Martin Scorcese’s 75th birthday and the fourth is a Tarantino Kill Bill party.

‘This year people can also order the food from the bed and it will be delivered straight to them,’ Simon said.

‘We’ve worked with the Rockpool Dining Project who offer a nice selection of food.

‘We want people to have a really nice experience, it’s not just a movie, it’s about spending time under the stars, laying in a bed watching a nice movie with your friends, family or partner.’
